Hello everybody,

How are we all? Enjoying the sun?

Sorry for no written post last night. Sometimes Wednesday is my only opportunity to create as far as evenings go and I was really in the mood to film. Having the confidence to sit and talk to a camera comes a lot rarer to me than filming my blogs or fictions so I hope you understand. Jumping on the opportunity was a must! To make up for it, here is that video for your Thursday entertainment:

I will post again as usual on Saturday evening.

It’s gonna be a revieeeew.

Take care of yourselves everyone,

Ps. If you are viewing my blog and wondering what the f*ck happened to the design… I am experimenting and hope to have a completely redesigned blog by the end of July. Just bare with me – it’s gonna be so worth it!

Closing May’s Chapter

Diary, Lifestyle

It’s so nice to sit now and type out my May chapter, after having looked forward to it for much over a week. Finally, and especially in comparison to April, I have faced a month where blogging feels like a habit. And not a bad one. It has been a month where I have been able to both find inspiration without becoming stressed and spend time on my blog every day without losing sleep. Now, as part of my day, I feel I have harmony with the Blogosphere.

Generally, too, I have been much more involved with the community aspect. As you may know I have been taking part in Mahriya’s (My Bookish Life’s) recent Typewriter project/challenge. We have already completed the first two tasks which you can view on her blog. I’m having a lot of fun and it’s been a good exercise to keep the inspiration flowing – it hasn’t been super easy so far in a really good way! I can’t emphasise enough how important the community is to a blogger. Still in my 7 months of blogging I have not seen anyone who hasn’t been supportive of anyone else – basically we’re all very good at if you don’t have anything nice to comment, don’t comment! If no other incentive for you to reach out to other bloggers, it does improve your *stats* too…

My main excitement and happiness for May came just last weekend. I took a trip to Brighton just for a day and a half, but I had wanted to go for so long it felt amazing to finally do so. Mostly I wanted to go because that’s where a lot of my favourite bloggers are – I didn’t intend to meet any of them (and I didn’t) – I just wanted to see all the fuss! Honestly speaking, it wasn’t what I expected from seeing vlogs / reading posts. Actually I would go as far to say I was a little disappointed. Nevertheless we explored the town and in the end I am in LOVE with it. Of course, being the highlight, I have vlogged my trip for the video of my May Chapter so I won’t spoil the details now. But, what I will say is Brighton taught me a very valuable lesson – just because it looks perfect from a distance, doesn’t mean it will be perfect close up, and that’s OK because perfection doesn’t necessarily = happiness. Even the smallest things can bring mountains of joy. My only small regret is that I didn’t dive in enough, but there’s always a next time!

If you want to be notified immediately when I upload the vlog, subscribe to me >here<.

Speaking of diving in, I did try *too* many restaurants while I was in Brighton. I was thinking I would share some in a separate post as I know a few of you are foodies! Let me know if you’d like that.

Wow, the end of May. Here goes – I will see you in June for more adventures!

Lots of love,

Spring Thoughts

Diary, Inspiration, Philosophy

As the temperature is rising and the Summer is approaching, I thought it would be nice just to reflect on the Spring we have had. Tomorrow I will be heading to Brighton which I feel marks the beginning of my Summer adventures – of course this will be featured in my May chapter (stay tuned!). For now, here is some *artsy* photos I took this month containing quotes to sum up my Spring:

I will also just drop this here for your viewing pleasure – and a little bit more insight!

Until the last day of May, take care everyone

In the Warm Dark of Night

Inspiration, Poems, Storybook

At the end of this blog post is a link to an open creativity blogging challenge – any support is appreciated!

It’s been a while since I uploaded something creative from myself. The following is a small poem I thought of perhaps a couple of weeks ago now, when I was struggling to sleep. I realised I was just trying to make time go slower before I had to work in the morning and was filled with stress. However, you should never sacrifice sleep (I’m so sorry my beautiful bed)! It’s definitely one of the most peaceful things to do.

Closing April’s chapter

Diary, Lifestyle

I think April was a bit of an odd month for my blog. Nothing really seems to have tied down recently and it has left me wondering what kind of blogger am I anyway?! A lot has definitely changed since I started – aside from the fact I still don’t really know what I’m doing… and I think this month has really made me realise just how many blogs are out there.

A Long Aprils Day

Diary, Lifestyle

I have very mistakenly expected the weather to be a bit warmer after last weekend brought glorious sunshine to the UK. Nevertheless I am preparing to showcase my Spring/summer outfits and am very excited about it too. I’ve been feeling very creative – Just looking for the perfect moment to create something worth sharing! Today has been one of those days that makes you really believe blogging is a perfectly suitable lifestyle.

My Outer Skin

After a few self-conscious teenage years, I finally became accustomed to my appearance and instead turned to improving my personality. Of course, I know this is not yet perfect and by no means stable. But philosophy has helped me a lot and on top of that, starting a blog has really opened my eyes to what I want to do with my life – which is great. Most of my time spent in school was spent saying ‘I don’t know’ so I know the frustration of lacking direction. Finally with my attitude and passions (mostly) in check, it seems I have turned full circle into a vicious spout of ‘clothes crisis’.

Yes, I know avid readers, it was only a couple of posts ago where I said I was nipping this retail therapy obsession in the butt. Well when a dusty pink, loose and comfy sweater dress, from your favourite brand (UO) that always fits you to a tee pops into your inbox, then try telling me it’s resistible. Clearly it wasn’t to me and I will likely have a picture as soon as I wear it out.

But back to the point – which has been inspired by this ill habit – Recently I have been feeling slightly perplexed about my appearance. Mostly it’s the notion I look younger than I am and also don’t look professional enough. It’s also spurred new experiments with makeup which I’ll admit is going disastrously. Note from the wise, natural is always a winner.

Despite this piece of advice, I really have nothing going in the ways of my ‘outer skin’. I’ve always expressed the typical philosophies of ‘looks don’t matter’, ‘beauty is not skin deep’, ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’. Now, to me, these expressions feel more like excuses – dismissing the issue is not helping at all. If you don’t like something change it, damn.

My outer skin can feel like a barrier for my anxieties. Especially now I’m really pushing myself to write, and take bolder steps towards being a freelancer, I am a believer in the power of a good outfit. It’s why we dress up when we go on dates, or when we have an interview. There’s something about looking confident that makes us feel confident. On the brink of change I’m just gearing myself for a battle – my ability to adapt things is going to shine soon.

My favourite part is the shoes. A good pair of heels to help me stride into my future. Perhaps more shopping should wait until the summer though. I’m forecasting a lovely array of dresses and light jackets.

All in the name of confidence, of course.

The Night Bus

Yesterday I uploaded – albeit two days later than planned – an experiment video onto my YouTube channel. I decided to try an upload a spoken poem I have written, which you may have seen on my blog before: The Night Bus.

I thought I would share this one with all my blogging buddies as I feel you will give the best feedback! – Let me know what you think. I have already planned more poems to practise with so don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel too. Thanks muchly, always appreciate your support ❤

Hey everyone, how are you?

This is just a quick note, in case you were interested… I won’t be posting to my YouTube channel (also called Light Writes) until next year. Unfortunately no time to make videos at the mo’, but I do have a few ideas so you can expect to see me – and hopefully on a regular basis – soon.

To make sure you’re informed when I start uploading again, subscribe to me on YouTube (just another hint: my videos may not be linked to the blog anymore!) and click the bell for notifications.

Lots of love,

Light x

p.s Blog posts will be as normal – next one tomorrow!
